A history of service…
In February 1934, Amy Roberts Vance invited over 100 women to a meeting at the historic, Waldo Hotel. She served on the board of the In-As-Much Baby Clinic that was started by Dr. Robert C. Hood to serve the less fortunate children of Harrison County. Mrs. Vance had the vision that a group of women would financially support and volunteer their time at the clinic. Hence, the Clarksburg League for Service was formed, and nearly 83 years later we are still serving the disadvantaged in our community.
Amy’s Invitation Echoes Still Today!
Today, the need is as great as it was in 1934 when Amy sent out that first invitation to get involved by serving the underprivileged of our county. Would you consider answering her call and joining the League for Service?
